MT is a diverse, non-partisan citizens’ power organization rooted in local institutions.

Our dues-paying member institutions are religious congregations, nonprofit organizations and a school. Our members reflect the great diversity of Manhattan. We are African-American, Black Caribbean, Latino, Muslim, White, Jewish, Christian.

We are low and moderate-income families, living in high-rise public housing, rent-stabilized apartments and coops. Some of us receive comfortable incomes or retirements, some receive government assistance. 

Among us are civil servants, realtors, laborers, teachers, health aids, lawyers, taxi drivers, clergy, doctors, students, retirees and unemployed. Combined we are a large group of talented leaders organizing to make positive changes in our communities, city, state and country.
